General Manager

Currently serving as the acting General Manager of the Bamberg Board of Public Works since 2022, Gregg brings over 35 years of Utility experience to our community. He has had the privilege of serving not only in three (3) Public Power / City Government organizations, three (3) Investor-Owned large utility entities, but also the TVA founded by the Federal Government in Chattanooga, TN.

Gregg and his wife Kathy have two children, four adult children, and three grandchildren. Born in Waco, TX he grew up in Tampa, FL where he graduated with Honors as the Vice President of his High School Senior Class. After receiving his BS degree in Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, GA., he began his utility career with Houston Lighting & Power in Houston, TX. During his 17-year career at TECO Energy/Tampa Electric he was involved in the Tampa Chamber of Commerce, and elected Georgia Tech Suncoast Alumni Association President from 1983 – 1991. In 1989 Gregg brought over 40-line crews to SC in the aftermath of Hurricane Hugo to Charleston for restoration efforts and later went to work for SCE&G as Manager of System Operations in the North Charleston complex.

During his Electric utility career in the State of Florida he served on the FMPA Board of Directors, Executive Committee, and Risk Oversight / Gas Hedging Program Advisory Committee. While in this capacity at FMPA he was involved in the planning of the construction of two 330MW combined cycle gas turbine plants in Kissimmee and Fort Pierce Florida. He was also on the Board of Directors for the Florida Municipal Electric Association FMEA and held office as the Secretary-Treasurer of the organization. Before joining JEA in Jacksonville, Gregg was the Electric Utility Director for the City of Green Cove Springs and Ocala, FL.

Besides his many professional organization affiliations, Gregg was also active in the Florida League of Cities, the Green Cove Springs Merchant Association, and local City Council economic development initiatives. He enjoys Golf, outdoor activities, sports, youth coaching, and local church engagement. He is passionate reader on Military History and is an Eagle Scout with the Boy Scouts of America.
